Prodigal Bikes delivered 315 bikes to the village of Boko Mnemela in the Kibaha costal region of Tanzania in December 2024. The bikes have been distributed to 4 schools where children as young as 6 years old were facing round trips of up to 20Km daily. Boko Mplumbe Secondary School, Soga Rafsanjani Secondary School, Mpiji Primary School and Boko Mnemela Primary School have been the recipient schools. Prodigal Bikes purchased the Shipping container the bikes travelled in and have re-purposed it into a bike workshop where our 3 trusty mechanics maintain the bikes with the spares and tools sent out alongside the bikes
Our Location
Kibaha district one of 9 regions in the Pwani region of Tanzinia. It is inland of the thriving city of Dar Es Salaam but is a economically deprived area with basic amenities and dirt roads which are ideal for our bikes. The area is seeing economic development through investment in a large satellite city in the north of the area and a toll motorway.
Boko Mnelmela is a small but expanding village in the south of the region with friendly locals and a heart for their community.
